Elephant kills wildlife officer in Nelum wewa
COLOMBO (News 1st) – A wildlife officer was killed this morning(February 15) when he was attacked by an elephant during an operation to chase away wild elephants in the Nelum wewa forest reserve in Aralaganwila.
Police stated that the deceased was an attached to the Polonnaruwa Zonal Wild Life Office.
He was a 40-year-old resident of New Town, Aluthwewa.
The body of the deceased currently lies at the morgue of the Polonnaruwa Hospital.
