Wildlife officer killed in wild elephant attack

A wildlife officer was killed following an elephant attack on Thursday night in Nelumwewa area in Polonnaruwa during a mission of chasing away wild elephants, Police said.

The victim, who was identified as D. M. Aruna Shantha (35), was attached to the wildlife office in Polonnaruwa.

He was a father of two and a resident of New Town, Uduwela in Polonnaruwa.
